ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE COORDINATOR

Duties Of Position: Works in a variety of job-related outdoor environments and conditions including confined spaces such as caves and sink areas; in and on the water such as in a river or stream, either in a boat or standing; and in a wooded environment. Collects data to determine surface and subsurface flow characteristics, conducting water monitoring operations, inspection of storm water Best Management Practices (BMP’s), aiding in the development of post construction master planning, developing and conducting educational seminars in schools and for the public, and developing data for capital improvement projects. Utilizes maps, aerial photography, hydrologic instruments, and data to determine physical characteristics regarding surface and ground water flows. Reviews and inspects subdivision and development plans, drainage studies, and other submittals for compliance. Responds to complaints, conducts investigations and enforcement actions, and conducts “dry weather” field screening as a part of the illicit discharge detection and elimination control measure. Serves with local civic groups, coordinates groups in the fulfillment of Phase II involvement requirements, such as watershed cleanups, earth day activities, and household hazardous waste collection events.
Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences or related field; with five years of experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Basic computer skills in MS Office Suite are required. Master’s degree and/or work experience in Environmental Compliance preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must obtain certification as a Landfill Manager for the State of Kentucky within one year of hire.
Starting Salary: Pay Grade 122; Salary $46,177/yr. ($22.20/hr) plus a full benefit package.Work Hours: Weekdays, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 40 hours/week with occasional overtime possible.
